Courtauld Institute of Art

The Courtauld is one of the world’s leading centres for research and teaching in the history and conservation of art. It houses world-famous collections of paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture and decorative works of art in its Gallery and over three million images in its remarkable photographic libraries.

The Courtauld has a distinguished faculty of over thirty specialists, whose work ranges from Antiquity to Contemporary Art. It is the only history of art institution to receive the highest grading (5*) in the last Research Assessment Exercise.

As a College of the University of London the Courtauld Institute of Art is located in the centre of London, in Somerset House, one of the most important neo-Classical buildings in the country, and only a few minutes walk from major London museums and galleries. It has a vibrant student community of almost three hundred postgraduates, 49 percent of whom are international.
